Welcome To My Journey
Work Experience
From my early days as an Insurance Advisor with La Capitale Financial Security to my current role at Industrial Alliance Insurance, I have dedicated my career to helping professionals secure their financial future. I have always believed in going above and beyond my role to help others. That’s why in addition to being an advisor, I also helped to train new insurance agents by providing licensing, product, and sales training.
My experience as a self-employed information technology consultant has also given me valuable insights into the challenges of running a small business. I worked with small businesses to improve their access to resources, maximize their bottom line, and improve overall operational efficiency. As a mortgage sub-broker for five years, I provided financial guidance while negotiating with the banks on behalf of my clients.
For over two decades, I helped corporations, large and small, adopt information and knowledge management technology to meet corporate and departmental mandates. During this time, I held several positions, including computer programmer, data conversion specialist, help desk technician, implementation consultant, technical consultant, and finally, sales engineer. My strong analytical skills helped me gather requirements for strategic planning, process definition/design, and technical business analysis. After gathering the requirements, I prepared and delivered proposals, project and implementation plans, managed expectations, and coordinated the activities between various stakeholders such as clients, sales, R&D, technical support, training, IT, and implementation teams.
It all started on a fruit farm in the Okanagan Valley, near Oliver, where I grew up. The invaluable lessons I learned on the farm, such as the importance of hard work and dedication, have stayed with me throughout my career. I strongly believe that my diverse experiences have equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to help you achieve your financial goals.
Specialties
I help freelance and self-employed software developers because I love the world of technology, especially software development. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful software can be, making remarkable impacts on individuals and corporations alike. The creative aspects of software development have always been my passion, and I continue to embrace them today.
Having been both an employee and a freelancer in the software industry, I understand the unique challenges and uncertainties you face. Recently, I’ve been helping insurance agents get their licenses and teaching them about insurance products and the associated benefits. Combining these two worlds was a natural fit for me.
Location
I am a licensed Insurance Advisor in British Columbia. I utilize current technology to provide virtual services to the entire province. I am located in the Lower Mainland in Langley.
Insurance and Investing Philosophy
I follow the principle that insurance may not seem necessary at first, but it becomes crucial at the time of need. Managing risks is crucial in the context of insurance. We all face three predictable risks – injury or disability that may prevent us from working, aging and premature death. The impact of these risks may vary from person to person. My role is to understand your specific situation and inform you about the potential losses that you may face. I’ll suggest to you the coverage required to protect yourself, but the final decision will always be yours.
Personal Information
“I have a passion for teaching and problem-solving. These skills have proven valuable to me in the past, and I believe they will continue to be so in the future. Being a techy nerd at heart, I absolutely love everything technology-related and enjoy maintaining and building my own computers and websites. In addition, I am always eager to learn and fascinated by what people do. I strongly believe that there is always something new to learn from others.”
